Have you ever read a novel from Sidney Sheldon? If you have, I am quite sure that you are an addict just as me. My favourites are „If tomorrow comes“, „Master of the Game“ and „Bloodline“. I admire the suspence of his books, the intrigues, the strong personalities with their unusual and adventurous stories. Revenge, murder, betrayal, lies are main subjects in most of his books. Often he tells about people on their way of gaining power, money, influence. It is interesting to see how people can or could behave in such situations. The language is clear and with a lot of direct speech which makes reading easy and fluent. Once started, you don’t want to stop, not before the last page, actually not even then. But although reading is easy, you are kind of alert, you are highly concentrated because you don’t want to miss a single detail. You are trying to guess who the murderer is, but even if you have read ten of his books it is still hard if not merely impossible to guess right. That’s why the end of a Sheldon novel is like a fantastic firework: a big exploding surprise.

I highly admire Sidney Sheldon for his great ideas and for his constructed kind of story-telling. He has to consider every detail, he has to make the story obscure on first sight but logical at the end. That’s a lot of work. I am glad that he has written so many books but at the same time I am desperate that there are not more and that he doesn’t live anymore.

If you have ever read a Sheldon, it is hard to find other books. I have begun reading different other novels in the last weeks but mostly I had to put them away after the first thirty pages. They were boring, with long long descriptions and nothing to happen. There are too many bad novels on the market and not enough Sheldon-likes!
