1-month-shop Samstag, Dez 6 2008

I opened a one-month-shop at the 25th of November. The shop is located near the railway station in Olten, Switzerland. I thought it would be a great idea to make my online-shop more popular and to sell a lot of jewellery, clothes, bags, greeting cards, paintings. Ecpecially because usually the time before Christmas is good for business as a lot of people buy gifts for their wives, girlfriends, friends, mothers, grandmothers,…

But as I see it now this idea of opening a temporary shop must have been one of my worst ideas. In two weeks I have only sold a little painting and a Native American jewellery set. I got just 130 sFr., but the shop rent is 1000 sFr.!!!Most people like my items but they think they could have jewellery made of gems, silver and pearls for the same price as the fashion jewellery in big retail stores. And for selling vintage and secondhand clothes it is difficult as well, either the piece is too small or too large. It’s really a hard business. And the most annoying thing is that someone has stolen one of my most expensive pieces, a 1000 sFr. bangle, out of my shop window! Isn’t that cruel? She must have known that stealing from a one-woman-shop causes a huge damage! What she has done is an act of perfect inhumanity! If I could I would curse her!

Temporärer Shop Montag, Nov 17 2008

Voraussichtlich am kommenden Dienstag, den 26. November 2008, werde ich in Olten an der Froburgstrasse 30 einen temporären Laden eröffnen. Zu kaufen sein werden Produkte von Alina Gordon: Schmuck aus Edelsteinen, Perlen und Silber, Vintage-Taschen und ein paar ausgesuchte Vintage-Kleider sowie einige Bilder.

Big necklaces for the season 08/09 Mittwoch, Sep 17 2008

One of the central fashion trends for autumn/winter 08/09 are big necklaces. They are going to be the new must-haves in the world of accessory just like shoes or bags. Many designers have nominated them as the new keypieces of the outfit. Perfect for that look is for example a five-sting necklace with labradorite and iolith or with crystal drops and facetted smokey quartz. With a two meter string of grey or golden pearls you can create an individual look, inspired from the fashion shows: you can wear it very long or several times around your neck, you can knot it or let the ends hang loose, you can also wear it as a bracelet or even as a belt or why don’t you make up a princess look with the pearl string in your hair? Another way of being up to date is wearing a big pendant. Nice are fingerlong ruby or emerald pendants. Because the stones are not high quality the price is quite interesting even for a small budget. More modern and trendy are silver medallions or carved silver pendants with stones. Both of them should be worn with a big black thread. Geschäfte machen mit Indern Mittwoch, Sep 10 2008

Seit über einem Jahr warte ich für meinen Shop www.alina-gordon.ch auf eine Anhänger-Musterkollektion aus Indien. Aber nichts. Wenn die Inder etwas nicht sind, dann ist das zuverlässig. Zuerst kommen mal ein paar Ausreden: Dewali-Fest, war im Ausland. Dann kommen die Vertröstungen: es geht nicht mehr lange, ich schicke sie dir nächsten Monat. Und dann hört man wieder nichts. Es ist echt mühsam. Wenn man andere Manufakturen anschreibt, bekommt man einfach keine Antwort. Ich habe oft den Eindruck, dass die Inder gar nicht an Geschäften interessiert sind. Zumindest nicht, wenn sie über Mail ablaufen. Wenn man vor Ort ist, sieht das Ganze wieder ganz anders aus. Dann kommen fünf Inder auf einmal (immer Männer!) und präsentieren dies und jenes und vieles, was man gar nicht sehen will. Nach drei Tees und fünf Stunden, kurz, bevor man gehen will, zeigen sie dann einem noch, was man eigentlich sehen will. Geduld ist das erste Gebot, wenn man mit Indern zu tun hat!!!

Ja, überhaupt Indien. Ein faszinierendes Land voller Kontraste. Auf der einen Seiten sieht man grosse Armut, auf der anderen Seite gibt es Superreiche, die kaum wissen, wohin mit ihrem Geld. Die Schere ist riesengross! Die indische Sprache, Hindi, ist ein anderes Rätsel. Sie klingt wie „hum“ und „ho“ und hat keine Ähnlichkeit mit einer mir bekannten Sprache. Sie muss für Europäer wahnsinnig schwierig zu lernen sein, obwohl die Inder das Gegenteil behaupten. Die Bollywood-Filme zeigen ein unreales Indien. Sie werden meistens im Ausland gedreht und handeln eigenlich immer von reichen Indern. Wenn man Indien nur aus Bollywood-Filmen kennt, kriegt man einen echten Kulturschock, wenn man das reale Indien sieht. Indien ist laut, chaotisch, hässlich und schmutzig, man kann nicht viel machen, die Sehenswürdigkeiten sind recht schnell besichtigt – und doch hat es seinen Reiz. Ich finde, diesen machen vor allem die Menschen aus. Ich habe so viele herzliche Menschen kennen gelernt.! Fantastisch sind auch die Saris. Jede Frau trägt einen anderen. Wahrscheinlich gibt es nicht zwei Saris, die identisch sind. Sie sind wunderschön verziert mit Perlen- Pailetten, Steinchen und/oder Goldfäden. Es sind wahre Kunstwerke. Ich finde, ein Sari sieht sehr elegant aus, selbst an dicken Frauen. Er schmeichelt der Statur der Frau. Als Frau allein zu reisen, ist nicht unbedingt gefährlich. Man sollte einfach nicht reich aussehen und sich nicht zu sexy kleiden.
